Could GHC remove old extensions?

I’m just asking because I note that the list of GHC extensions is rather long (longer than some languages core features ): https://downloads.haskell.org/ghc/latest/docs/html/users_guide/exts/table.html For example, DeriveFunctor is an obvious extension that everyone uses - could we remove this “option” from the compiler. Similarly, could new versions of GHC just have DeriveFunctor as part of the core language - at this point it feels like it is anyway… I don’t want to get into a di…
