We recently published something I wanted to announce as I suspect it will be welcome by anyone else who has been using the `ua-parser` library. `ua-parser` does some parsing of User-Agent strings, using a set of regular expressions maintained at `https://github.com/ua-parser/uap-core`.

`ua-parser` hasn’t been maintained in some time, and so its regular expression data is outdated. More importantly, it has a dependency on `pcre-light`, which has a native dependency which has been dropped from Ubuntu as of 26.04. Our fork uses pcre2 instead, which bundles the C code and avoids the non-cabal-managed dependency altogether.

I probably properly ought to have done a Hackage takeover on this, but didn’t have the patience, hence the clunky org prefix on the name of a new package instead:

> **[freckle-ua-parser](https://hackage.haskell.org/package/freckle-ua-parser)**

Also if anyone is using the `bugsnag` library, which we also maintain, be advised that it had been using `ua-parser` and has now been switched over to `freckle-ua-parser` instead.

ps: I went through the trouble of helpfully linking to all of these libraries, only to find afterward that Discourse policy rejected the post for having too many links in it. That was upsetting. So anyway, you don’t get links, sorry.
