Of course your perfect right. “Parentheses” is U.S. usage; “brackets” is Brit. [Sense 5 here](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/bracket#Noun).

“Parentheses” means just [Either of a pair of brackets, especially round brackets, …](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/parenthesis#Noun).

Since we’re talking parsing, and each form of bra… parens means something different in Haskell, I’d always qualify with ‘round’, ‘square’, ‘curly’, ‘angle’, …
