Links to GHC 9.8.4 binary packages missing at haskell.org/ghc

Hi,
I just noticed that most binary archives are missing for GHC 9.8.4 : GHC 9.8.4 download — The Glasgow Haskell Compiler
I find it strange because 9.8.4 is currently listed as one of the “stable” releases.
Since there is no mention of this in the release blog, can someone share some insight as to 1. why is this the case and 2. whether it will be rectified or not?

A newer GHC does have bindists, FWIW: GHC 9.12.1 download — The Glasgow Haskell Compiler

It is just the web page at GHC 9.8.4 download — The Glasgow Haskell Compiler that is broken. The underlying files are still provided at:

Your original post prompted a discussion in the GHC room on Matrix (#GHC:matrix.org). From that discussion, I understand:

  • the links are autogenerated from a file (see here);
  • such a file is missing for GHC 9.8.4 (see here); and
  • that missing file should have been created by running an executable named gen-index during the release step “Write download page” (see here).
