Friends

Following my move to Epic, my home page at Microsoft Resarch will soon disappear.

**I have a new, permanent home page**

> **[https://simon.peytonjones.org](https://simon.peytonjones.org)**

Can you move any bookmarks, or pointers in your own pages, to point the new location?

The new page doesn’t show up anywhere on Google searches yet. I’m not even sure whether Google even indexes it. (It’s hosted on GitHub pages.) If anyone can give me advice on how to make sure it is indexed, I’d love to hear from you. I have not the foggiest idea.

Thanks

Simon

I see that your publications are still at your previous employer - will they be staying there, or will they eventually be relocated as well?

Really? I think most of them are actually hosted on the new site. Which one did you have in mind?

If you have links to old (Microsoft-hosted) PDFs, those links should remain stable; they will not go away.

The older ones (from 1980 to 2009) [e.g:](https://simon.peytonjones.org/publications-2000/)

> **2009**
>
> **[Runtime Support for Multicore Haskell](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/publication/runtime-support-for-multicore-haskell/)** […]

which isn’t a link to your new site, [unlike:](https://simon.peytonjones.org/publications/)

> **[Hoopl: A Modular, Reusable Library for Dataflow Analysis and Transformation](https://simon.peytonjones.org/hoopl/)** […]

…hence my inquiry about their possible ~~relocation~~ replication on your new site.

Ah yes. They will all remain stable – as will any existing links you might have direct to papers.

Thanks

o\_0 …that’s odd. I more-or-less understand not copying across what you published or co-authored while you were there, but as for the publications you wrote yourself _before_ being employed there - are they no longer yours?

Nothing to do with ownership, just saving work. One server is as good as another!

`>_<` …yes: I just realised that both servers are (ultimately) now owned by the same company - there’s no point in moving content "_sideways"_.

Hello Simon… the site is looking good!

It is not showing in “simon peyton jones” google results yet for me. I would recommend signing in at [https://search.google.com/search-console/about](https://search.google.com/search-console/about) and following whatever instructions they give, then you will have excellent awareness/control of its indexing/SEO status now and in future. (Did this recently myself.)

You resisted the lure of Hakyll, I see. 👍 🙂

Best wishes

There are many links to [research.microsoft.com](http://research.microsoft.com) on the Haskell Wiki. It sounds like anything under [http://research.microsoft.com/Users/simonpj/Papers](http://research.microsoft.com/Users/simonpj/Papers) will be retained, but there are many other links.

They are listed here:

[https://wiki.haskell.org/index.php?target=research.microsoft.com&namespace=&title=Special%3ALinkSearch](https://wiki.haskell.org/index.php?target=research.microsoft.com&namespace=&title=Special%3ALinkSearch)

I just thought I’d mention this in case anybody wants to make a last-minute backup.

If anyone feels like redirecting these links on the Haskell Wiki, to point to their new permanent homes, that would be terrific, thanks.

Simon
