Status of servant-multipart / Call for co-maintainers (blocking downstream Stackage packages)

Hi everyone,

I’m writing to check on the current maintenance status of haskell-servant/servant-multipart and see if we can help get maintenance moving again, or find co-maintainers who can help with triage and releases.

Background & Current State

servant-multipart (and specifically servant-multipart-client and servant-multipart-api) is an essential component of the Servant ecosystem for handling file uploads and form data.

However, the repository has not seen any commits or merged PRs in over two years (last push was May 2024). There are currently several open PRs waiting for attention, including:

Ecosystem Impact (Stackage Cascade)

Because servant-multipart-client-0.12.2 specifies random >=0.1.1 && < 1.3:

  1. It cannot build against modern snapshots containing random-1.3.*.

  2. Stackage Nightly currently has to explicitly disable it:

    - servant-multipart-client < 0 # requires random >=0.1.1 && < 1.3, snapshot has random-1.3.1

Thank you! Seems like current maintainer is ysangkok (Janus Troelsen) · GitHub you can reach out to him

I am happy you want to contribute. Please review the listed PRs for correctness, that would help. I will make a new release this coming week then, and see if I can get the packages back into Nightly.

Stackage Nightly currently has to explicitly disable it
