Call for Applications to the Revised Haskell 2010 Working Group (UPDATE: Established!)

As described in the blog post which announced this project (A Revised Haskell 2010 Language Report | The Haskell Programming Language's blog) , the call to join the Working Group which will compile the new report is now open.

As specified in the bylaws of the working group (Making sure you're not a bot!) the call is open to all members of the Haskell community. You don’t have to become a member of the working group to contribute, but being a member gives you voting rights when it comes to final decisions on which PRs to merge. As a member, you should set enough time apart for looking at the PRs that are being discussed, and for casting your vote once it is time to take a decision. On the other hand, it is not expected that membership is a long-term commitment, since I expect that we will finish the process within this year.

You can apply by sending an email which contains a short paragraph describing your motivation to D.Binder@kent.ac.uk. Please include your GitHub handle in the mail.

The call is open for 2 weeks, until the end of August 20th, 2026, AOE.

I am happy, of course, to answer any questions about the process.

A quick reminder that the deadline for applications is approaching fast :slight_smile: All that is required to be on the committee is a short one-paragraph email. So if you have missed the first announcement, there is still time.

The Revised Haskell 2010 Working Group has now formally been established! We have 11 members on the working group, which can be found in the README of the repository here: GitHub - haskellfoundation/haskell-2010-revised-report: Haskell 2010 Revised Language Report · GitHub

Now the time has begun to start working on the revision, to write or rewrite sections of the report, and to merge the changes.
A draft version of the updated report which reflects all merged changes will always be available both in HTML and PDF form at the following two links:

Once we are getting close to what we consider a final version we will also start a period where we ask for feedback and look for people willing to proofread the revised report.

I am very excited that work on the specification of Haskell has finally resumed :slight_smile:
