[RFC][GHCup] Should GHC 9.6.4 be 'recommended'?

For the GHC musl dev containers, I already promoted GHC 9.6 to “recommended”.

Since GHC 9.10 is out: Does GHC 9.4 receive any more updates?

(I would not recommend a stale version)

I don’t think GHC 9.4 will get another release since there are no associated milestones currently.

FYI there is an official status page, which indeed says there are no further releases planned for 9.4. However, its status is still “:green_circle:” for what it is worth.

I don’t consider that a hard rule. There are still industrial users on 8.10.7.

It is better to have bugfix support, but unless there’s concrete evidence of major issues that don’t get backported, a “stale” version just means we have to start looking for a new recommended version. It can still take half a year or more.
