Taking over open-browser

Haskell package open-browser is a dependency of Stack (and Cabal (the tool)) and was last uploaded to Hackage in January 2016. Its sole recorded Hackage maintainer is rightfold. I’ve emailed the recorded maintainer email, but had no response. The recorded ‘home page’ GitHub repository does not exist. There is a rightfold user on GitHub, but none of its six public repositories are Haskell-related and activity starts in 2019.

On the assumption that the package has been abandoned, I am willing to take it over.

Following Hackage policy, I am stating my intention here, before ‘waiting a while’.

GitHub - yamadapc/open-browser: Haskell package to open a web browser. there’s a repo, but seems not belongs to original author

Not sure if you have already done it but: if you also post on haskell-cafe, while putting the maintainer in CC, you will have a paper trail of contact.

Thank you for that advice. I have now followed it.

EDIT: I may have spoken too soon. You have to subscribe to post. I had forgotten that I had been unable to subscribe in the past. I’ve tried again.

I have been added as a maintainer of open-browser on Hackage, and released open-browser-0.2.1.1 (which now has a change log).
